Ideas

Idea 1:
Speed Dating.
-One main character (The girl)
-Three to fiven (All male)
-Maybe one best friend (A girl)

Voiceover of main character thoughout most of the piece

For each change of male character within the speed dating process, there will be a cut away into a scene of what the main character imagens her life to be with that character.
Each male will be a stereotype of different socail backgrounds, for example; we could have a Ginger person and theen the main character imagens her life being okay, but then notices that she will have ginger childern.

The titles will go through when these cuts away are in place.#

Props:
A light (for table)
A table
Two chairs

Location:
Public place (e.g. Pub)
(or could recreate a public place)
Other places that fit the stereotyped male.

Costumes:
Would also contrast with the socil group.

Actors:
Take pictures of a wide range of possible people that can play the roles and see who would fit each role better than others. (Will need atleast 20 possible people so that we have atleast one certain and one reserve for each role)

Idea 2:
First day at work.
-One main character (boy or girl)
-One side character (boy or girl depending on the main character)
-Four to five background characters

Voiceover to be used (so that is more easy to understand the storyline)

First day at work at a busy office.Second character is the obvious person that the main character has a romance for. Starts of with her/him waking up and going through most key stages of the day (mainly typical things that will ocurr within a first day at work), ending with her either at home exhuasted and worn out or in bed.

Props:
-Briefcase
-Alram clock
-Bed
-Drink/coffee

Location:
-Changes throughout a lot (Around about four-five changes)
-Keys ones:
-Office
-Home

Costumes:
-One main outfit being the suit
- Changes quite a lot at the start as the person is undicided

Actors:
-Need to representative of everyday noraml people (including the backgroun characters)

Idea 3.
Events of the morning:
-Either one or two main characters (could be together or room mates)

No vioceover and possibaly no vioce at all (narrative can be shown through actions)

Possibaly a continuous shot all the way through shows main actions of the day e.g. getting up, breakfast, getting dressed (maybe not showing their face, only otehr parts of their body)

Props:
-Everyday obejcts that are found in the house
-Clothes
-Coffee

Location;
-A typical living space/home/apartment

Actors:
-Since there is only two and only their bodies can be seen, we can use people out of our group or just anyone we can get to play the role.

Openings of films

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2:

The establishing shot of this opening sequence is a shot of a lake with the camera moving forward along it. The sound at this point is non-diegetic as with the movements there is this wind-type sound (kind of like drums). There is then an edit of a black cut in further into the lake. With these quick cuts, ellipsis’ take place.

It then cuts in to a shot of the antagonist of the scene, and after a few more black cuts there is cgi lightening/magic which flashes it white out the frame. This starts to set the scene of a fantasy genre.
-This start of the film (0:00-0:30) is a brief introduction from the part one of the films so that the audience has a clearer idea of where to pick up from.

The white then turns into dark grey and black clouds, and after a while, the first and only company name/title appears from the clouds. This is the Warner Brothers logo with “A Timewarner Company” below it. As it starts to come closer towards the screen, the non-diegetic music starts to come in (“Lily’s Theme-Alexandre Desplat) With the logo coming closing, it then follows through it.

-The clouds then start to clear to see a castle (Hogwarts) with black cloaked figures surrounding it. It nearly looks like it is in black and white/greyscale which starts to set a dramatic feel to it and that it is a grown up styled film.

-Cuts away to a person in a black cloak in the middle of an arch (rule of thirds=importance of character) There is then a low angle shot looking at this person that zooms out slightly from its long shot position (this shows the importance and power of the character also)

-This then cuts away to a point of view shot of this person looking at school children marching within an army style.

-This is also a shot reverse shot, back to the person now, no real expression is shown within his face, and then it fades/dissolves out black which turns into clouds once again.

The title of the film finally comes through the clouds, with its signature style of writing and how it is set out. The music at this point gets louder which could connote that we are starting to get into the film at this point onwards (the music is quite classical like with violins which connotes a upset and sorrow feeling)

-Zooms in slowly until it goes through the words and past it until it fades to black

It then fades out from the black into a different scene altogether. We start with a medium shot of a gravestone with the words “Here lies Dobby, a free elf” (yet again a reference to the previous film and a visual aspect to the fantasy genre)

-The shot is zooming out and pans across to the first time we see the protagonist, whom is looking through a mirror which reflects an old man and himself

-The finishing shot is of an extreme long shot of a beach, house and the scene that we just witnessed in the right hand corner.

500 Days of Summer:
The film starts with the iconic “Fox Spotlight Features logo and scene with the iconic non diegetic music playing in the background which fades to white. The nest shot that comes up is of a black background with text saying “AUTHORS NOTE: The following is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely coincidental” and then “especially you Jenny Beckham” This seems to be an inside joke within the people who made the film which starts to represent the feel of it being a comedy.
The title of the film then appears on screen “(500) Days of Summer” with a drawing of a city scape that comes up. Non-diegetic music starts to set in with a slight whistling sound. The part of the title which was (500) then counts down to (1) as the drawn background disappears as if it has been reversed.(The sound at this point is that of a pencil on paper) It then changes into a bench, which is then a graphic match into a real bench with two people sitting on it. The drawn background fades away.
The establishing shot is of the girl and boy sitting on the bench overlooking a city scape. The music at this point is quite romantic and the girl and boy are looking at each other smiling (these visual aspects start to connote the rom-com genre) There is a shot reverse shot to show the expression and feeling between both of them. There is then a close up on their hand which is zooming in.
-The girl has a wedding or engagement ring on.
-Voice over comes in “this is a story of boy meets girl” –reference to be a romantic film genre
-Cuts away back to drawing place to count down from (500) to (1) again

Cuts away to the boy in an office with two people on either side of him.
-Voice over “The boy, Tom Hansen of Margate New Jersey grew up believing that he would never truly be happy, until the day he met, the one” His expression changes to be quite upset. Quite emotional and romantic introduction to the character.
- Cuts away to an ellipsis’s back in time to when he was a child. The voice over at this point is the comical side to the film.
Cuts away to the girl, also in an office but at a different station.
-Voice over “The girl, Summer Fin, of Billocot Michigan, did not share this belief” Convention of a rom com, two opposites coming together despite differences. Her life at the office is more busy in comparison to his
-Cuts away and ellipsis’s in time to back when she was a child also (comedy within the cutting of her hair and how she loved it long)
Cuts back into the boardroom with Tom

-“Tom meets Summer on January 8th ,he knows almost immediately that she’s the one he’s been searching for” The two main characters are shown s the ones that will be together which is the expectation of a romantic comedy, and also the fact they meet through the same work place (more realistic and relatable).

Rise of the Planet of the Apes:
The film starts with the iconic “Fox Spotlight Features logo and scene with the iconic non diegetic music playing in the background which fades to black. Another title then comes up which is “Dune Entertainment”. Another title then comes up which is “Dune Entertainment”. Yet another title comes up which is CE. Through this all there is non-diegetic music which is quite era and un-nerving. The screen is then black with white text saying “Twentieth Century Fox Presents”, and then “In association with Dune Entertainment” The title then appears “rise of the planet of the apes” which is set of a shot of a jungle (which could represent the “ape” side of the title”
The establishing shot is of the jungle/rainforest which is quite slow and fades into different shots of each part of it. At this point there are ambient sounds of the diegetic music of the rainforest/jungle.
-Cuts in into the jungle/rainforest to a line of monkeys/ gorillas (the camera at this point seems to be handheld, which makes to feel that we are hiding whilst watching the monkeys/apes. There is also a bird’s eye view of them which also makes us feel that we are following them.
There is then a large clash of sound which comes from the birds within the trees connoting that something is not right (building the tension).
-Cuts away to a man watching the apes/monkeys from a distance within the jungle.
- There is then an extreme close up of the apes face, which shows that he is uneased and that something is wrong within his natural habitat.
The cuts start to change at a faster pace as the man appear and start charging at the apes whom are running away in panic. (These visual aspects start to represent the genre of action and adventure with the antagonist (the men) trying to kill/catch the protagonist, the apes and monkeys)
